Donde Esta Tux Barn?

Lauren and I have spent much time deliberating what my perfect outfit should be for the Big Day. It's a very tricky process. On one hand, I want to exude class and reek of sophisication, sort of a Midwestern version of David Niven or James Bond.

Watch out, he's the bouncer

On the other hand, it would be nice to wear something that screams, "I'm getting married, and I can't control the volume of my voice!"

I think the perfect suit would have to be subtle, genuine, and inexpensive. It must showcase my masculinity while still featuring my sensitive side. Oh yeah, it also has to be made entirely of bacon.

Sizzlin'!

I think this could work.

Movie Maven

Lauren is a very fascinating gal with unique tastes and talents. For instance, did you know she's fluent in 23 languages?!?

Lauren is the only person who understands me!

I thought it would be neat to let everyone know how great she is and shed some light on Lauren's favorite things. With over 6 years of experience, I now have a firm grip on what she thinks is super awesome. I'll start by introducing you to her favorite movie.

If this movie shows up during a channel surfing session, Lauren will lose interest in all other channels, external communication, and general hygienic upkeep. Here is the crown jewel of Lauren's movie collection:

Nun-believable!

This is not a mistake. Lauren's favorite movie of all time is Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. I have no idea how this happened. Maybe penguins brainwashed her as a child, maybe she has secret aspirations of asceticism (I hope not), or maybe she just has a serious girl crush on Whoopi. Either way you look at it, this may have gone too far. Check out the Halloween costume she made me wear this past year:

Spareth the ruler, spoil the child

Stay tuned for more of this crazy chick's favorite things!

Minty Fresh

We were lucky enough to book universally renowned photographer Katie Day for la boda. She's pretty much a baller and we're super excited that she will be involved in our wedding. Here's a sample shot from our engagement photo session taken recently in scenic Kansas City.

Lauren's amused by my new aftershave

I'll keep posting photos from this session and any other pics that are worthy. They must be worthy though and will face a rigorous Wayne Campbell worthiness screening.

We salute your pictures!

Love Songs

Here is another jam that LJ and I seem to like. Please to enjoy Junior Senior's "Move Your Feet"

What is it about this song that we enjoy so much? I'm not sure but it may have something to do with the singers demand that we move our feet. That's outstanding.

I guess I am the "Senior" in the relationship, Lauren being the "Junior." I'm 9 months older than her. That's not to say that I'm 9 months better than her, just that I have 9 months more life experience. Will she ever catch up to me? Probably not.

Something Blue

The wedding is a little over four months away and we still have some decisions to make. One thing I'm proud to say is wrapped up is Lauren's wedding dress.

Faces have been blurred to protect the dresses

I guess Southern Traditionalist is the haute couture this year. Kind of risky but I say let's give it a go.

Smarty Pants

So here's a picture of Lauren at her 8th grade graduation. I'm so proud of her!

Neither of us were wearing pants at the time.

Actually this is from Lauren's graduation from her Master's program in Speech Pathology. Three extra years in school and she still can't pronounce asbestos correctly. Go figure.

What does a Speech Pathologist do exactly? According to Wikipedia their main tasks include hunting animals to obtain furs, which are then used for clothes and other articles, or sold / bartered. Interesting.

I know Lauren will use her degree and experience to make the world a better place. Here is a prototype of some stuff she's working on right now.

Digital ear, patent pending

Proud of you!

Love Songs

I thought it would be fun to post some songs that have deep, spiritual meanings to Lauren and I.

First up is Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger"

Lauren and I both participate in extreme sports - paintball, unsupervised belt sanding, blind kayaking, grizzy bear wrestling, and so on. We always (ALWAYS) play this song on our boombox before we get after it. Hasn't failed us yet.

I don't really know what the words are or what this song means. I just like the beat and the cute beret that the lead singer wears.

Celebrity Sightings

Lauren and I have many famous and important friends, probably over 2,000. Unfortunately we were not able to invite all of them to the wedding. To make things interesting, we'll list out some of the A-listers who will be making the trip to Westport for our nuptials.

"Do I owe you money?"

First up is Captain Lou Albano - one time professional wrestler manager and full time family friend. "Uncle Louie," as Lauren affectionately calls him, will be taking time off from his busy schedule of collecting beard rubber bands and novelty t-shirts to come kick it with us.

He's excited and so are we!!!

It All Makes Sense Now

The big day is September 18, 2009. A day chosen for obvious reasons.

If you haven't already guessed, we are getting married on September 18 to celebrate the 19th anniversary of when a 500 pound, 6 foot Hershey Kiss was displayed at Times Square in New York City.

That was a proud day for America. We hope to do the same.

Boom - It Begins!

Howdy and welcome to the official blog for Paul and Lauren's wedding. We're going to post important and interesting facts about the wedding. Hope you enjoy! Here's the first post - it's a real doozy!!!

Check out one of Lauren's aunts. She's a hairdresser and has graciously agreed to prepare Lauren's hair along with all of the bridesmaids.

She's 5'5", 6' with the ponytail

I think they will turn out great!

Keep checking our blog for cool stuff like this!
